Qualified Label (Green)

A Qualified label is used by CGC for certified books that have a significant defect that needs specific description, or to note an unauthenticated signature (one which was not witnessed by CGC). For example, a comic book with a missing coupon that otherwise grades 6.0 will receive a Qualified grade, avoiding a considerably lower grade. CGC would give this book a Qualified grade of 6.0 and a Label Text notation “COUPON MISSING FROM PAGE 10, DOES NOT AFFECT STORY.” Or, if the book is signed on the cover it may be noted as “NAME WRITTEN ON COVER IN MARKER.”

Can someone explain qualified grades to me? And in particular

This

looks like someone had a handling mistake and the cover detached at the bottom staple from a book that looks 9.8 if it was blue label I would suspect it would significantly lower and not NM

No.

Tho I'll try. They are a magical number that has no actual meaning or value given to collectors to make them feel better about their low grade comic books.

I recently acquired a 10.0 Action comics 1. It would have been a Universal 0.0 as I didn't have the book, but with a qualified grade we can ignore all its flaws (the biggest being its nonexistence) and it is now a 10.0.

That's the most accurate description thus far
