Mind telling us what you paid for the book prior to restoration?

Too much 27_laughing.gif

Was there a reason you chose to restore this book in particular?

The major reason was that I felt that it would continue to deteriorate due to all the tears and ragged edges. Also, I hate books with detached covers mad.gif I did seriously consider just having it slabbed, but decided I would rather have a solid decent looking restored book than a slabbed very low grade copy.

Very nice book, and a nice example of Matt's work.

Glad to see you having it restored in order to conserve it.

Indeed. I wonder how many other great and rare books will have to deteriorate before this inane phobia of restored Golden Age books abates. Especially since it appears that the rumored link between AIDS and color touch is likely unfounded. laugh.gif

I have no problem at all with restoration when a book is a low-grade book that needs stabilization like this one did. It's the splitting of hairs on already mid or high-grade books that drives me crazy.
