Why are there never any Comic Events in Las Vegas

Because the people that go to comic cons make the people that live in Vegas seem normal and that would freak them out. wink.gif (Yea I just insulted myself) crazy.gif

They had a large Comic Convention last year, but it was so poorly attended that they cancelled future conventions.

Actually it was October 2003. Yes, I was there and had been very excited about it. Although it did receive adequate advertising and hype, it was the deadest show I've ever been too. The show was smaller than expected and not many people showed up. They tried to liven things up with a rock band playing at the entrance to the con. It didn't help. It WAS in a nice venue though in one of the large rooms at the Mandalay Bay convention center.

I was there as well and it was great from a "fanboy getting to spend a lot of time talking with creators and getting sketches" standpoint.

Might be another one in the Fall of 2006,in conjunction with a coin show held Halloween weekend at Circus Circus.

A smaller room, combined with a more central location may be more successful.

Its tough trying to organize events on weekends in Vegas.Hotels get crazy expensive, conventions tie up much of the space, and casinos want gamblers, not gawkers.

The problem with the 2003 show was that the promoters were outsiders, and didn't want to change their shows to fit Vegas.
