Can you say more about the supposed hidden crossover from Aquaman 56 to Subby 72? I've never heard of it before.

I'll also add that Aquaman 56 is the first appearance of The Crusader, who became a supporting cast member of the Superman titles in the Dan Jurgens era.

Yes, I forgot to note that it's the first appearance of the Crusader.

The DC/Marvel unofficial crossover was discussed in Back Issue - though, for the life of me, I can't remember which issue - Steve Skeates  wrote issue #56 and there is a plot point that is left dangling at the end of the issue.  When Aquaman resumed as a back-up in Adventure Comics and then later back to his own series, that plot point was revisited.  When Skeates went to write Sub-Mariner for Marvel he decided to pick up that plot thread again in Sub-Mariner #72.  It's not official, DC and Marvel editorial never coordinated it, Aquaman and Namor don't actually meet or anything, but the two issues do make up a complimentary story.

When I get some time, I'll see if I can go back and find which issue of Back Issue it was.  May have been Alter Ego, but pretty sure it was the former.
