Line this book next to a book that you know is not trimmed. You might be able to see a difference in size. However, the definition of trimming is, "make (something) neat or of the required size or form by cutting away irregular or unwanted parts." I would imagine that most books that are trimmed have only a very small part of the book missing.

After comparing some other scans today the vertical dimension does look okay, just cut a tiny bit higher than most. I'm going to wait a bit though with all this activity.

At that price, trimming would be the least of my concerns given the spine split etc.
