When series start, they generally have free gifts with the first issues.  Nice conditioned copies that still have the free gift can go for startlingly amounts.  Someone's punting issue 2 of 2000AD for £,7000 at the moment.

Here’s a link to a topic I created several years ago, which petered out several years ago….

Far be it from me to suggest that the Freddie Mercury fan has got his priorities wrong, I hope he enjoys thumbing through them.

Talking of Freddie, sad to see another one bite the dust. Comicana has now packed up the online shop too:

I saw on FBonk that sales had dried up.

Sad the way it's all going, isn't it?

Yes, 'tis sad indeed. I've both bought and sold with Comicana ( the chap's name eludes me at the moment ) over the years. Let's hope he is fit and well and in a position to bounce back soon.

Cover inspiration for Seven....

Another copy of # 4, plus # 5.

Great Scott, Robin.

The needle is stuck, but at least Ethel is stamping us in order!

Wish I had 9d for every Great Scott on these covers from the time.

Looking at the Wasp and the Man Beast there, it's amazing (given how litigious they can be) how many character names have both DC and Marvel incarnations.

Marvel have at least 2 characters called the Scarecrow, though DC's is more famous than either.  DC have a Sabre Tooth.  DC had a Carnage that everyone forgot about.  They also had Doctors called Strange and Doome.  They both have Enchantresses ( along with Thor, Hercules and all the pantheon that are copyright free) and perhaps most Amazingly, DC had a Spider Man first.  And he was a foe for....you know....he who shall not be named....

The multitudes of Charlton collectors have been overlooked of late, sadly, so, in an attempt to redress the balance, I am posting four examples dated between January and June 1959.

The first impression might be that these have 'jumped the gun', but I think we persuaded ourselves some time ago that they must have had to wait until the prohibition on corrupting publications such as this was lifted towards the end of that year.

One of the Mysterious Travellers is stamped twice. Probably a tug-of war between Ethel and Myrtle, who both reckoned they saw it first.

Also a Famous Monsters from April 1959.

Love it.  A man after my own heart, Albert :cloud9:

HRs&RCs has a full T&P window compliment as it goes:

It's a fun title

Here's a nice one of mine:

I always like the women I don't have the best.

But you go off them a bit then.

As Clint Eastwood once famously said, "There ain't a beautiful woman in the world that some guy ain't tired of f***ing".
