Mylar has been discontinued by DuPont

This is mostly trivia, but check out this article:

DuPont, the company who used to make the Mylar D that goes into the comic bags most of us here use, discontinued making that type of plastic. The name of the plastic that is most equivalent to Mylar D is called "Melinex." So I guess new bags aren't "mylars" anymore, they're "melinexes." Bill Cole notes the similarity in the Library of Congress's recommendations regarding Mylar and Melinex on his web site.

Is it inferior and should we be stockpiling Mylar sleeves or are you talking about an equally stable/ inert product?

I believe the Melinex is also suitable. This actually happened almost a year ago. I remember the initial annoucement and feel that things should be just fine.
