Other then being ethically honest as a seller. My question derives from a auction on Ebay in which a JIM 84 raw went for over a thousand dollars. How would one know if this is a reprint. Since the CGC census numbers in higher grade are very low. Thanks for your thoughts

Indicia might reveal differences, look at the ads, possibly page count

paper quality and size

those are things I’d consider.  
 

but if you don’t really have experience but are considering spending a lot of money, then Cgc is for you.  They do the analysis for you, so consider buying slabbed, as they will do a restoration check too

Not sure what the census has to do with this though.

My guess is that someone is selling a high grade raw, which makes the OP suspicious because there are so few high grade copies on the census.

As far as I know, Marvel never reprinted JIM 84 in any format that could be mistaken for an original.
