Two new The Mandalorian spin-offs, Ahsoka Tano and Rangers of the New Republic, will be crossing over. On the heels of the success of the Pedro Pascal-led series, Lucasfilm is expanding their live-action Star Wars lineup with two new offshoots being developed by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.

Picking up from the success of Ahsoka's live-action debut in The Mandalorian season 2 played by Rosario Dawson, Ahsoka Tano will follow the former Jedi on a new adventure that takes place after the fall of the Empire in Return of the Jedi. Meanwhile, a second, more mysterious, offshoot has also been confirmed to be Rangers of the New Republic, which will more likely be about some of the key characters from the galactic's governing body following the defeat of Emperor Palpatine and his troops. Both shows will tackle separate stories but are set to converge down the road.

As revealed by Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy at Disney's Investor Day presentation, Ahsoka Tano and Rangers of the New Republic will come together in the future. Unfortunately, nothing else was revealed about the crossover at this point, but it's proof that Lucasfilm is also building their interconnected stories on the small screen through Disney+

In December, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced that Filoni and Favreau are executive producing several “Mandalorian” spinoffs for Disney Plus, including “The Book of Boba Fett,” which is currently shooting and premiering in December, and “Ahsoka,” starring Rosario Dawson, and based on the character Filoni created in “The Clone Wars.” (A third announced spinoff, “Rangers of the New Republic,” is not currently in active development).

Kennedy also said these spinoffs, which all take place within the same timeline, will ultimately culminate in a “storytelling event.” Filoni’s title as executive creative director captures the complicated role of overseeing both individual series and a larger storyline that weaves together several shows. Given Filoni’s galaxy-sized “Star Wars” expertise, he’s also been known to weigh in on other “Star Wars” projects outside of his direct purview.

There is another reason that some “Star Wars” fans rejoiced at the news of Filoni’s title of “executive creative director”: Kennedy remains a lightning rod for a certain subset of the fandom, and predictions that she is leaving Lucasfilm have become so common they are practically white noise. But as other fans have also noted on Twitter, Kennedy is the one who gave Filoni his promotion, and Disney’s leadership has given no indication that Kennedy will be leaving her post any time soon.

In Matthew Beloni's newsletter for Puck (hat tip Star Wars News Net), it's mentioned Kennedy's deal with Lucasfilm has been extended, keeping her in place as president until at least 2024. Read the relevant section in the space below:

"Kennedy has a lot of good things happening at Lucasfilm, and I’m told she recently re-upped her deal for another three years.”

Announced just shy of a year ago, Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic was poised to put The Mandalorian's Cara Dune at the center of a spin-off series, though recent comments from Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy seem to confirm that the project has been scrapped entirely. Not even two months after the project's announcement, Gina Carano was released from her Lucasfilm contract and was confirmed to no longer be involved in any projects, due to remarks she shared on social media earning her significant backlash from the fandom, though there was no official clarification on what that meant for Rangers, with whatever plans were in place for the series now being embraced for other projects.

While speaking about Rangers of the New Republic with Empire Magazine, Kennedy confirmed, "We'd never written any scripts or anything on that," in addition to noting, "Some of that will figure into future episodes, I'm sure, of Mandalorian."

This likely won't come as much of a surprise, given how little we've heard about the project, with one of the last updates on its status coming this past May. At that time, Variety had pointed out, "A third announced spinoff, Rangers of the New Republic, is not currently in active development."

This was the show I was most looking forward too, so of course it gets the axe.  I did wonder if it'd last once they booted Carano, and well, here we are. Modern Star Wars, where we cancel more than we produce.

Yeah show is dead.  It was Gina's show and with her out, they had to rewrite a lot of storylines, and those ended getting moved to other series.

Still taking bets on how many of thr cavalcade of title cards will ever get made.

Hopefully they will do something to expand the HR and OR on D+ in addition to the rumoured movies. Time to build onto the franchise for new generations of viewers instead of just focusing on the Skywalker era as that is coming to an end as the actors pass on.

The High Republic is basically dead at this point. It has not been doing very well, and there are rumors some of it is being scrapped.  I have not heard anything about them venturing into the Old Republic, and they basically they killed the near future with the trilogy.  They have basically painted themselves into a box where the only stuff that consistently gets positive fan feedback is the Skywalker era stuff.  If you notice aside from Kenobi, Boba Fett, and the Ashoka series, all long confirmed and in production, D+ day was basically devoid of Star Wars.  Rogue Squadron is effectively cancelled, the Rain Johnsen stuff is basically dead, and the Benioff and Weiss are not happening. I know some rumors have popped up about a new trilogy from JJ Abrams, but after the trilogy is this something people will get behind? While the MCU felt like the complete opposite where it felt like they were throwing anything against the wall to see if anything stuck,
