This will be a miscellaneous assortment of raw books, mostly but not all Marvels, several now undercopies but some nice books I hope will find new homes. I will consider reasonable offers on all items BUT an unconditional "I'll take it" in the thread or by PM trumps. Competing claims will be decided as far as possible by time stamp. Unfortunately, the new board software does not display precise thread post times (either in PMs or in sales threads), which can result in the inability to determine whether a PM post or thread post came first. In those circumstances (i.e., where there are "take its" in both a PM and in the sales thread, and where it cannot be determined from the time stamps which "take it" came first), the "take it" posted publicly in the sales thread will win. Therefore, there is some risk of losing a book if you try to remain anonymous via PM. You can count on me in any event to do my best to ensure fairness to everyone. As a comic character Isis must have looked like just another Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman is more likely one of a long line of fictional iterations of Isis. Isis is among the oldest divinities in history. Isis herself was a reiteration or a variant of the elder goddess Hathor, who may historically speaking be the oldest of any female divinity. Ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses tended to evolve, merge and morph one into another, and continued to do so in later antiquity as the prototypes and hybrids for the Greco-Roman mythologies, the cult of "Isis-Aphrodite" for example. Not only for ancient Egyptians, but for multitudes throughout the Greco-Roman world of later antiquity, Isis was among the most powerful and beloved of the pagan gods. She is among the earliest female characters to have a genuinely heroic role in mythology, together with her sister Nephthys they save the day in preserving Osiris and from Osiris she gives birth to Horus, who becomes in mythology the foundation of Egyptian monarchy. For scholars of Ancient Egypt, the mythological role of Isis is seen as significant cultural context in explaining (at least in part) the relatively higher status of women in Ancient Egyptian society, having a degree of equality and rights unusual in antiquity. Ancient Egyptians viewed Isis as the mother of Egyptian Pharaohs. The tradition of Egyptian statuary which depicted the young Pharaoh as child breast fed by Isis became the prototype for the later Christian images of Mary with the baby Jesus.
