Newton Ring Policy

Good morning,

Thanks for your message. Newton Rings are a visual phenomenon that occurs when light passes through plastics with different refractive indexes (how they bend light). In CGC cases, it is the different refractive qualities of the hard-outer shell and the archival-quality Mylar well housing the book which creates this visual phenomenon.

Newton Rings are present in all of our encapsulated books, these are considered normal and acceptable. Reholder service is available, however, there is no guarantee that reholdering will eliminate or diminish the presence of the Newton Rings.

If you have a book that you feel has excessive newton rings or it is right in the middle of the cover, you can email us a picture of the book and if we feel this falls outside of acceptable limits, we can offer a courtesy reholder for you.  You can reach our customer service department at: submissions@cgccomics.com.

Thank you!
