Lovecraft, Part 2 Inside the Outsider In this essay Bloch points out the difficulties in trying to assign character traits to complex human beings, pointing out the contradictions in Lovecraft, Poe, Twain, and himself. Bloch converses with Lovecraft and asks the questions still on his mind, 53 years on. This was published as the introduction to Lovecraft's Legacy: A Centennial Celebration of H.P. Lovecraft (1990). Lovecraft Bloch's essay about Lovecraft and the First World Fantasy Convention, held in Providence, RI October 31 - November 2, 1975. Embedded within it is his earlier essay, Inside the Outsider. This essay was published in the limited hardcover edition (but not the regular edition) of Willis Connover's Science-Fantasy Correspondent One in late 1975. It was later reprinted in The First World Fantasy Convention: Three Authors Remember (Necronomicon Press, 1980).
