Impact of Italian distributor stamp on grading

Good morning,

I checked with our graders on this and they advised that a stamp that large could affect the grade, but most likely on in the highest grades. Based on the defects they could make out in the picture, they felt the stamp probably would not affect the grade very much in this case.  But we would need to examine it in person, to be certain.

Thank you!

Hello,

I have seen in previous posts that UK or US distributor stamp are not considered in grading by CGC. Does this is applicable also to Italian distributor stamp?

Thanks

Hello Infernos :)

Looks like size matters to CGC, doesn't it!

Are you from Italy I wonder?

I'm based in the UK and have a few comics with what look to be Italian distribution / import stamps on them. In the example below, the stamp has a sterling £100 price:

Would you happen to know anything about that, or have any local knowledge about these types of stamps? I'm wondering why an Italian stamp would have a sterling price on it.

Cheers

Yes I am from Italy and it is a bit unfortunate that the stamp impact on the grade, many books that I can find here have it.

The stamp you are showing me, as well as mine, were used mainly on comic recalled because unsold and then put again on sale at a discount price, indicated on the stamp. Sometimes the stamp was used also to indicate the price in local currency when distributing it for the first time.

The £ is the symbol for “Lira”, which was the old currency used in Italy before the introduction of €. The symbol is different from the sterling because it has 2 horizontal lines instead of 1 for pounds.

Lastly, thanks to Jennifer for the kind reply.
