Water Stain Question
2 2

4 posts in this topic

I'm looking at a collection that has a whole bunch of books with water stains like this one - is there a way to lessen them without resto - and - roughly what grade is the max something like this could get - assuming everything else is perfect?

Thanks in advance

Distilled water can get the staining out. Depends how involved you want to get with it though. Rolling a moistened q-tip over the “shore line” (where the stain is at it’s darkest point) will absorb the stain if done repeatedly until the discoloration is lessened or completely gone but should be done carefully and allowed to dry and/or spot ironed. There’s also a method of basically giving the page a shower with a squeeze bottle and letting gravity help the stain run off the page. There are a couple of youtube vids you may want to watch first.
