So this copy has been graded and slabbed.

And I learned from my mother that "you get what you get and you don't throw a fit."

So I'm fine with it. I got it cheap a couple years back and it looks and displays great.

Still, it's grade leaves me scratching my head a little especially since my LCS has a copy that has exactly the same staple placement with only slightly less creasing around the staples. It also has softer corners and slight edge wear. It got a 9.4 which may have been a key bump since it's a $0.35 variant. (I wish I has pics of it.)

My copy has a couple of bindery tears at and near the top left corner of the front cover. It also has what looks to be ink transfer/color rub on the back cover upper edge. Otherwise it's groovy.

So, whaddya think? Thanks for the opinions.

Okay, I had some trouble with this coming in at 8.5 as well. However, I checked the grading for what's allowed in a 9.0 and it reads "Corners are cut square and sharp with ever-so-slight blunting permitted but no creases".  Yeah, it's not much of a crease, but it is there in the lower left corner.

By the pics, I think you got robbed if it's below a 9.2

9.0-9.2, an 8.5 is way too low.

I say 9.0/9.2 but I guess they could be harsher if they ding you for the manufacturing flaws. So 8.5 could be correct as well.

The corners of this book, as well as the rest of it, are structurally near-perfect. It's production-related flaw is it's misplaced staples. And I guess that leads to the question of if the creases that resulted from the opening of the book are considered a production-related flaw as well.

I would not think so but that's before I saw the aforementioned 9.4 copy that looked near-identical. And if you don't count them as production-related, are they significant enough to drop the grade to VF+?

I'm fine with the copy and grade in any case. I'm only seeing inconsistencies.

Thanks for the feedback.

I see edge wear , some corner blunting, possibly a small crease on lower right, pressable bends by the staples that are not production, and the notable scatching/wear by the boot on the bottom edge.

edit: also looks to be minor staining on the barcode.

8.5 was my prediction,
