Wonder how many PM's he's gotten so far.

I wonder if anyone else realizes that there is up to a 25% buyer's premium on each lot in addition to applicable taxes?   In addition, I see what @shadroch said in regard to the chain of custody of the item.   They just drop it off at UPS and UPS boxes it up while the auction house takes no liability for damage after it leaves their hand.  So basically, if they want to toss the comic loose in a floppy mailer, then there you go.

To @waahehe94 I have to be honest here, if you can pull some of these items and consign them to a more reputable auction house that knows what they are doing, I would be willing to risk more with bidding, but given these circumstances, I don't think I am willing to bid as high on these books as I would with more auction houses that deal with comics.

I've spoken with several people who have both sold and bought comics and collectables from A Ok Auction Group LLC. and there hasn't been any issues that I'm aware of from any of the parties involved. I'd hope that as many collectors as possible would bid on this auction, but if not then I understand. Personally, I feel better buying comics and collectables from an auction house like A Ok that I've observed and attended auctions at for the last several years than some random person on the internet or eBay who doesn't have a reputation or established business that will more than likely be around for the rest of their lifetime and isn't a "here today, gone tomorrow" business.

I choose to consign my collection to A Ok because numerous families of local collectors and even comic shop owners have chosen to use them after the collectors and LCS owners have passed away with great success. My experience thus far with A Ok has been exceptional. The staff came to my house, packaged up my collection and transported it to their auction house where they currently have it stored and are sorting it for the auction

Here is my issue with this.  There are a couple of books there that have the potential to go for some big money even raw.

I don't feel they know what they are doing.  Why aren't they scanning the books?  Every other reputable auction house scans comics unless they are sold in bundles or lots. They took cell phone images and at an angle.

I believe that ALL of your books should have been listed before the auction started.  I have already gone through three pages.  Are you telling me that over the course of the next ten days they are going to add books to this session?  That means that certain books have ten days to gather bids while other books have less.  Let me know if anything great is inserted the day of and I will see if I can snipe those at the last minute.   That screams disorganization and at the part of the auction house.

There are other things I notice but as a bidder I don't want to share that with potential competition.  I am a player in this game but up to a certain point.

I think you would have been better submitting these books to Metropolis Comics / Comic Connect, or Comiclink, or MyComicshop.  In fact if you can pull anything that has not been listed under your rights as a seller by pointing out  to them what I said about everything being listed in time for this session, I would do so in order to maximize your profit.

@waahehe94

@Buzzetta has VERY valid points here.

I too will attest that these books if properly scanned and put in a bigger auction house would command much more than the current one you have decided.

Do not get me wrong they will still sell well , but will not garner the same premium.

If your plan if full liquidation of your collection at the most ROI there is a reason some auction houses have the reputation they do.

Just my 2c

If not , well good luck.

I was told by the auction house that they will post the entire collection sometime next week. I believe that they are currently in contact with regular customers of the auction house and have only posted a few books in order to gain interest in the auction before the actual day of the live/online auction. Like I've stated before, they have been doing this for several years and appear to know what they are doing as they auction off comic book collections (most considerably bigger and more valuable than mine) on a regular basis.

I would have preferred that they listed the entire collection at once, but they do things a certain way for a reason. They appear to have successful auctions and have confidence in their auction procedure as the better the auction does the more profit they generate for both themselves and the customer consigning the collection with them. I've followed (and attended) their auctions for several years and they appear to have been in business for several decades so they must know something about the auction business.

I hope that as many collectors as possible attend the auction in person and online, as there will be many items of interest in the auction to comic book collectors, but if people have reservations then I completely understand and it will just mean that the people attending will have a chance to get a better deal with less people bidding.

I believe that the people who continue to watch the auction and finally see the entire collection listed will be pleasantly surprised and those who bid and win lots will be happy with their purchase. Hopefully those that participate in the auction will be pleased with the experience and continue to attend future auctions with the A Ok Auction Gallery LLC.

Oooooooookay.

Again.  Scans not photos.  There is a book you have in that lot that went for around $1000 the other night in midgrade.  A Ok Auctions just took an "okay" slanted photo of the book.

Again list it at once.  If the books are listed people see them in advance and start bidding or at least start watching.  If it is not listed and someone has already gone through the listings, the chances that they return to see if anything was listed AFTER the auction as launched are significantly reduced.

Comiclink, Metro / Comic Connect, MyComicShop, Heritage, and Hakes all run their auctions a similar way and are wildly more successful and known than AOK.  Scan the book and list everything so it is ready at the launch of the auction for maximum exposure.

You are committed to this at this point.  I get it.  This is not meant to be an argument.  But, you are leaving a significant amount of money on the table.   I cannot persuade you any further and to be honest, maybe I shouldn't.

Good luck with this.
