I’ve always found this book tough to grade due to the variation in color from copy to copy. Water damage seems quite moderate on both wraps and I think this will keep the grade down. Without the water damage, the book appears as is to be in the vg/fn +/- range. The water damage drops it at least a grade imho into the vg (4.0 ) range. The “spot” appears to be some type of inadvertent pen/marker stain?

Do the pages appear brittle at all? If so, that would possibly drop the grade even lower.

4.0

The water stain appears to cover approximately 1/2 of the back cover. That'll cap it out VG. All other defects are acceptable in this range.

The green dot is unlikely to be considered color touch. It isn't serving a purpose covering a flaw.

Thanks for sharing. I kind of dig this issue with water damage. It suits the character and title.

Still chuckling at that nametag gif, @grendelbo  , well played!

That water damage on the back looks rough to me so I was thinking 3.5.  Recognizing, though, that the local experts (and @grendelbo aka liver of the chopped variety) put it higher than that I'm curious whether I am over-penalizing for water damage?  The idea of a severely water damaged 5.5 or 6.0 is very foreign to me - can others speak a little on their experience with submitting/getting back water-damaged copies of books?  Would love to learn more about practical examples of how CGC has graded them!

Thanks!
