What Is Normal Length Of Time In Grading/Encapsulation/Imaging Status

I have had several submissions go through CGC in various grade levels but one thing that has been rather consistent is the length of time it sits in the grading and encapsulation stage. Ordinarily it hits that point, goes through the process, and gets to the shipped stage within a day. this has been the case with submissions that have gone through the economy, modern, and standard stages. One submission (all my submissions are from the exact same order) has been Grading/Encapsulation/Imaging status since August 6th. I have sent three emails and none seem to really get my point, they basically just explain what that stage is. I get that, I know what it is, but it seems impossible for me to understand why it has stalled in that one spot for almost a month. I get turnaround times creating long waits but once it hits the grading stage it has not taken this long. In fact, last week another submission went into the grading/encapsulation stage in the morning, shipped that afternoon, and I receievd it on Sunday. Has anyone else experienced this long of a lag at this particular stage?

Good morning,

Thanks for your message.  There is no set time for an invoice to remain in any specific department.  It will all depend on the turnaround time and the tier you selected as well as how many invoices are ahead of yours in line.  The customer does not see all the internal statuses on their end so while it may appear on your side that the invoice sitting still, it actually is moving forward, you just don't see that reflected on your end until it gets to the final quality control stage.  The important time frame to look at is the overall turnaround time and not how long an invoice remains in any specific area because that is going to vary greatly from invoice to invoice.

Thank you!

Hey John, my value tier submission has been in GEI for over two months. So it may be a long while before it moves. It went GEI July 1st or 2nd.

Reached out to Jennifer after 5 weeks and she quoted 160+ business days total. It was submitted in Feb so by my calculations it should be finished mid September for mine. Which would put it in GEI for 50 business days.
