Hit-Monkey Writers Pitched the Project to Marvel Studios Too

This Wednesday, all 10 episodes of Hit-Monkey hit Hulu, introducing comic book fans to a hyper-violent take on Marvel's most peculiar assassin. The eponymous character may be from deep within the Marvel Comics lore, but series creators Will Speck and Josh Gordon have been fans of him for the better part of a decade. In fact, the duo continually pitched the House of Ideas on bringing the character to life until someone bit.

 

"We have been obsessed with Hit-Monkey for about 10 years and actually pitched it to Marvel repeatedly," Gordon tells us. "Every meeting we would have up there, we'd be like 'You guys should make Hit-Monkey. That's the coolest,' to the point where they were like, 'Yeah, I know. We get it. You like Hit-Monkey.' And actually, they were like, 'You're not the first directors to actually pitch Hit-Monkey.' It's got a bit of a cult following."

Saw the first episode last night. Crazy!

This is either going to be a different form of fun, or just lose itself in an oddball story.

Watched and enjoyed the first 5 episodes. Never heard of the character until he was a build-a-figure in a Marvel Legends series. Jason Sudekis is excellent.

I'm up to Episode the Hulu lack of restrictions really complements the theme and action of this series.

this show was surprisingly very good. not sure which i liked more, this or modok. but i hope Hulu keeps the animation going.

As her name implies, Lady Bullseye is a Daredevil villain, first appearing in Daredevil Vol. 2 #111 in 2008. When the original Bullseye killed the mobsters holding her hostage, Maki Matsumoto adopted his moniker, and has served with both the Hand and the Kingpin’s crime organization. She has no super powers of her own, but she’s a formidable combatant and assassin, as befits her two most notable employers. She’s hired at the end of Season 1, Episode 6, “The Long Goodbye,” after Hit-Monkey has killed all of the assassins sent after him.
