If you are sure it's mold and you want a DIY home remedy, just take a cotton round or Q Tip with a little ISO alcohol on it and wipe the area gently to kill the spores, then let it air dry. If you use 70-99% ISO, it should dry out quickly with no problems. Just don't saturate the cotton to the point where it's dripping if you use a cotton round. Don't overwipe or you might remove some ink. But even if the ink were to come off a little, that's better than throwing the damned book away.
