what to do with a high value comic before grading

I have some old books -  such as an example: x-men giant size #1, fantastic four #48, werewolf by night #32, american spiderman #34, silver surfer #1 - all about 4 to 7 grade.

To insure the highest grade - I would assume it better to send to a third party for clean and press instead of CGC?????

Which third party would recommend?

There are a few pressers that are on these boards.  I sent mine to Tony at ComicsInaFlash when I was sending books for grading.  I don’t do that anymore.  @joeypost does this as well…there are many others.  Depends on your location too.  There may be someone closer that you can physically take comics to.  Be aware, even independent pressers might be backlogged.  Something to keep in mind. 👍👍🖖

I would do some research. A few hours of reading and you will learn if a press clean will be beneficial and who are the best. Or send out a couple books to different pressers and whatever produced the best results you send your books to. I don't know why you would assume to rule out cgc pressing.

i guess i worded my question poorly - part of my question was do other people do a better job than cgc.  also with cgc - one shipping less handling.

I sent some of my books to CGC for pressing and it was fine. One shipping, less handling, both good points.

I do have a question for you though, do you have a paid CGC membership? Because if you don't, then you can't send them your books yourself and you have to go through a dealer.
