same thing with me , my buddy had almost nothing boxed up , even though he knew he was moving for a month , he acted like he was lost , i took control and pushed him and we both busted butt for six straight hours , he was trying to be methodical but i would have none of that,,, filled a whole large sized U-haul to the brim , but he made a big deal about the Coleman lantern that got broken ,,,

if i would have let him be in charge it would have taken twice as long with no better results

yep.  look when I moved I paid a moving company $500.  I did not go looking for friends to burden and excoriate.

$500 to a broke @$$ 19 year old is a lot of money.  Call the guys (esp anyone who had a truck) and bang it out in a few hours.  Not these days.
