First Time Comic Submission Questions
0

3 posts in this topic

I am preparing my first comics package to be sent for grading and other services, and had some questions.

  1.     Are estimated values declared by sender to be for raw books, or value after graded and slabbed?
  2.     What grading tier should be requested for a book published after 1975 that may sell for $1000 once slabbed?
  3.     Can books of different grading tiers be sent to CGC together?
  4.     Will books of different grading tiers be returned to the owner in a single package?
  5.     Can some, but not all, books in a shipment receive Pressing Services?

If it is useful, below are the 10 comics to be submitted.

title issue no. notes pre-1975? sold for (eBay) grade (eBay)
Sleepwalker 1   no $204.00 9.6
Batman 608 2nd printing no $250.00 9.8
Uncanny X-Men 133 Wolverine no $260.00 9.4
Runaways 1   no $295.00 9.8
Ultimate Fantastic Four 21 1st appearance Zombies no $375.00 9.2
Alias 1   no $389.00 9.8
Hulk 1 Loeb, McGuiness; Red Hulk no $415.00 9.8
The Boys 1   no $480.00 9.8
NYX 3 1st appearance Laura Kinney no $999.99 9.6

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Best,

-Adam

Good morning,

Thank you for your message.  The value we ask you for is an insurance value, a number you would feel comfortable with in terms of a replacement value if your book was lost or damaged while with us. We do encourage you to be conservative as we do not reimburse you if you over-value your book. In the event that your book was grossly under-valued, we would contact you to bump the book to a higher grading tier and you would just pay the difference in the grading fees at that time.

Each tier of service covers up to a maximum specified insurance level and you must choose a tier of service which will accommodate the declared value for your item. You can find our grading tiers and the requirements for each tier on our website here: CGC Services & Fees | CGC (cgccomics.com)

You can put multiple grading tiers and services on one order form.  All books listed on your packing slip should be included in the same box.  If you wish to ship different tiers in separate boxes then you should complete separate order forms.

Books of different tiers and services cannot be shipped out together as they will have different turnaround times.  You can only request books of the same tier and service to ship back together.

You can request pressing on whichever books you prefer.  You do not have to select pressing on all your books.  You will select the services you -want for each book when you enter it on the order form.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.  You can also reach our customer service department at 877-662-6642. Thank you!
