Pressing a Comic Possible - If not what happens? 0

Hello,

I know that some comics are able to be pressed while others are not. I plan on sending in a book with a foil cover and will put the option to press on it. However, if the book cannot be pressed will CGC notify me and/or deduct the grading fee from my order? Please let me know. Thanks.

Good morning,

Thank you for your message.  If the book's cover is entirely foil, unfortunately we cannot press it. If the outside cover is foil while the interior cover is paper stock, we are able to press it. The foil covers that can be pressed have certain limitations due to the raised surface of the cover. In some cases, bends are too deep or large to be effectively removed because of these limitations.

If in doubt, please utilize the CCS screening service to determine if your foil cover is a good candidate for pressing.

So what happens when someone doesn’t pay for  screening, asks and pays for pressing but CGC cannot or will not press the book? OP mentioned that. Will the cost be less the pressing cost  or is it still going to be charged for pressing?

Hello,

If a book comes in that we feel cannot be pressed for whatever reason, we will notify the customer.  We can either then send the book back as is or if the customer wishes, proceed with grading only.  You would not be charged for pressing if we were not able to safely complete the process.
