Art Day - Severin Strange Tales complete story 0

Beginning with issue 153 of Strange Tales, Marie Severin was handed the artwork chores for Dr. Strange.  The good doctor shared the book with Nick Fury, and the previous artist was Bill Everett, who had to follow Dr. Strange’s creator Steve Ditko.  So, it was pretty daunting task.  Marie handled the art through issue 160. I think she did a wonderful job, and she continued to pencil and ink many stories for a lot of different titles after that, but Stan never really gave her the ownership of a major (or minor) book for any extended period of time ever again.

You’re absolutely right about Marie. She was very talented and did a great job on most anything I remember them putting her on.

She also was a warm and kind human being. She’s one of the beautiful people I miss talking to back in the day @ SDCC.

Beautiful!  Thanks for sharing!  Some great pages there.
Marie did have a pretty good run on the Hulk starting in TTA 92 until Trimpe took over and on Subby after John Buscema left the book.  But yeah, nothing more than 10-15 issues in a run.  I think Stan liked to use Marie for a lot of in-house production/colorist stuff and she did quite a few covers and cover layouts there for awhile.
Marvel wouldn't have been the same without Mirthful Marie Severin.
