What do you mean by re-holder? Is that something CGC does?

From the CGC web page on Services & Fees:

so essentially

1.  email/call CGC to get the specifics about the thickness of the slab to make sure its ok for your purposes

2.  Fill out paperwork for "REHOLDER" online.

3.  Pack up your book carefully, mail it to Florida for somewhere between $10-$15.  We'll say $10 for this calculation.

4.  Pay for the Reholder.  $20 fee, plus $5 invoice fee

5.  Pay for return shipping.  Best case scenario, $8

so for $40 minimum and lets say 6 months of your time door to door, you can get it reholdered

plus the risk of loss or damage

I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, but you should think it through.

actually after thinking about it even more...

IF you can confirm a newer slab works, maybe you can just straight up arrange for a trade of your comic for someone with a newer slab.  Even if you paid for both shipping, you probably still come out ahead and you get your comic in like a week instead of 6 months.  IF you can find someone local, throw in $5 and gas money for the exchange.  EASY PEASY.
