Rules and suggestions for sending in a specific card

Hi guys, I am thinking about sending in a 25th anniversary metal Charizard for grading. My question: I have the card in its original packaging (pictured below). Am I allowed to ship it in the original packaging? Or do I have to put it in a soft sleeve + semi rigid top loader as a rule? If I am allowed to use this original packaging, is that the wisest move?

Thanks yall! I am new to this and appreciate the help!!

Hello

Here are our recommendations for packaging your cards.

Shipping Your Trading Cards

Packaging Instructions

  1. For the protection of your cards, place each card into a protective sleeve.

  2. Then, place each card in a semi-rigid sleeve. The sleeve you choose must be sturdy enough to allow us to remove the card safely.

  3. Put all of your cards in between two cardboard pieces that are larger than the cards. When packaging your cards for shipment, please place the cards in the order in which they appear on the submission form packing slip.

  4. Secure the cardboard pieces with rubber bands. Ensure that the rubber bands are not too tight. They should be just tight enough to hold the cardboard pieces together and prevent the cards from falling out.

Important: If packed too tightly, the cards inside may get damaged.

  5. Protect the bound cards with packing material such as bubble wrap, Styrofoam pellets or other shipping/packing material.

  6. Pack in a sturdy cardboard box, ensuring the bound cards are not packed too tightly. This may cause damage if mishandled. After placing your packing slip(s) in the box along with the cards, use packing tape to completely seal the outside of the box.

  7. If you are submitting cards under the WalkThrough grading tier, mark each side of your shipping box with WK in large, bold letters. If you are submitting cards under the Express grading tier, mark each side of your shipping box with EX in large, bold letters. If you are submitting cards under the Standard grading tier, mark each side of your shipping box with ST in large, bold letters. If you are submitting multiple grading tiers in the same shipping box, indicate the highest/fastest grading tier. Incorrectly marked packages will experience delays.

  8. If using USPS, ship your packaged cards to:

    CGC Trading Cards
    PO Box 4701
    Sarasota, FL 34230

If using a shipping provider other than USPS, ship your packaged cards to:

    CGC Trading Cards
    5501 Communications Parkway
    Sarasota, FL 34240

Important: The shipping provider that you select when submitting your order refers to the return shipping from CGC Trading Cards to you. You are responsible for safely shipping your cards to CGC.
