I might come across a little more Gold to add here, as I’m rummaging boxes and adding items over in Mixed, where I have a Rochester Garbage Plate cooking. There’s an Atlas war book in there and a couple other items of the GA era, (plus other weirdness from all eras) :

Green Mask vol 2 #2 in VG minus. 1945 Fox Features book. Eight universal copies on census. Ronald wrote his name on the cover and an interior page.

And for you miscreants who are thinking of taking it to order that “How to Get Along With Girls” book advertised in the back…forget it…it ain’t gonna work…they won’t send it to you….I mean, it’s a long time ago. Not like I called them up or anything….sheesh….  $125

having lived there quite a few years in the past, i could never understand the fascination for that weird concoction

I’ve only ever been to Rochester once, and I did not even hear of this dish until after that trip. I’d try one if I go back, mostly out of curiosity. But I thought it was both a great name and metaphor for a certain kind of catch-all, loosely planned sales thread. (shrug)
That, and I am fascinated generally by highly localized dishes — eg this, Utica greens and chicken riggies, etc.

:news: I have identified MORE Golden Age books in my collection! … that I don’t think I can part with :sorry:

Seriously, I have identified five more candidates for this thread. I will think carefully on whether I am ready to part with them, sleep on it, then offer some or all of them by tomorrow night.

So.., what is the punchline? Did you really think this through???!!???

No punchline, Mike. Originally I just wanted to offer up the 2 Thunda's. Then I made a pass through the boxes and decided to offer the Roly Poly and the Green Mask. Then I pulled a few that I was on the fence about keeping/offering. I think my boxes may need a reorganization more than a cull.

Diary Secrets #20 Matt Baker cover, in GD, maybe GD-.

Another lost Promise book, with that upper right bindery defect? No, wait… that’s a chew too…. Also, color loss lower right front cover and left of back cover. Central image area still presents well.

That round dark spot inside front cover on upper edge has some texture. It’s some form of soiling, not color touch. I hit both sides with black light.

$200

Shadow Comics #11 (July 1941) presents VG range with nice supple pages, but cover barely hanging on at top staple alone. Let’s treat it as detached cover. 8 universal copies on census, topped by an 8.0. Iron Munro, Dead End Kids, the Hooded Wasp. A legit funnybook. $150

Comps were sparse to non-existent for all these, so I am open to PM’s on all except the Gay #28, on which I am firm.

There's a joke in here but I'm too sophisticated to make it.
