I've got a pretty good idea of what people will say (especially once they see the spine and the ink on the cover), but second opinions are a good idea.

Shows substantial to heavy wear. Books in this grade are commonly creased, scuffed, abraded, soiled, and possibly unattractive, but still generally readable. Cover shows considerable wear and may be detached. Almost no cover reflectivity remaining. Book-length creases, tears and folds may be present. Rounded corners are increasingly common. Soiling, staining, discoloration and foxing is generally present. Up to 1/10 of the back cover may be missing. Tape and other forms of amateur repair are increasingly common in Silver Age and older books. Spine roll is common. May have a spine split between 2" and 2/3 the length of the book. Staples may be degraded, replaced or missing. Staple tears and stress lines are common, as well as rust migration. Paper is brown and may show brittleness around the edges. Acidic odor may be present. Centerfold may be loose or detached. Interior tears are common.

Hmm, I was thinking 3.0 until I saw the big spine tear..then a 2.0 tops.

If tape is applied on inside to hold cover on (which you should probably do anyway or you are going to "lose" whole cover!) will that increase grade since tape is accepted to preserve the comic?

Thanks all, I pretty much agree. I graded it myself about 15 years ago and called it FAIR, so pretty much what I thought. Thanks for the opinions!

A press may help a bit…not enough to significantly change the grade.  2.0 tops.

I've got it up at auction on ebay right now with a 1.0-1.5 grading, just to be safe. We'll see what happens. Thanks again to everyone for their opinions.

You have the upside down Spawn 1 CGC 9.8?!

Ha! Yeah, that's me. I'm selling most stuff through MCS but have a couple that I wanted to handle myself. In the next week or so I'm gonna switch the Spawn 1 to "Best Offer" and see what happens. So far it's just been a publicity stunt for the charity.
