Uncanny X-Men 118 - What is this variant? 1 1

Now that I finally signed up for CLZ and copied my personal DB there, I was going through my UXMs to note which were newsstand and which were direct...and realized I have no idea what's going on with this issue of UXM #118. I can't find any info on a variant for this issue (it's pre-newsstand/direct distinction...the only "variant" I can find is a British Pence edition, which this clearly isn't), and so I have no idea why the UPC is blank and the price box and upper right corner boxes are different. Does anyone here know anything about this?

Ahha! I don't own any other Whitmans and hadn't actively sought them out in the past, so I had no idea what distinguished them from others. Sweet, good to know. Thanks!
