Hey

this is a touch different, I’m considering sending this book back for a press/clean, grade. I really want to send for a re holder anyway. It’s slab is super old.  There’s creases, dings, finger prints  on back. Bottom right corner there’s a big crease next to a Slab scratch.

so hope it’s not to weird to ask but what grade does this look like?

would you press/clean ?
Any thoughts ?

I'm guessing it's a 6.5. That FN/VF range.

Based on what I can see and the defects you described, it could get a single grade bump.

Thanks for posting.

Ya I was honing in on the imperfections, would you guys crack and press/clean ?

I would say depending on the grade it is currently in. Do you mind telling us what the grade cgc gave it so we could evaluate your question better?

Exactly...why hide the grade?

My thoughts about hiding the grade was this: if 5 ppl came on here and told me they thought it was a 6.0 right now and it actually already had a 7.0 then I’d know for sure that I shouldn’t crack and re submit. I’d know the chances were low and it was unbiased opinion of the book without the grade attached.

If I show the grade then that colours things differently. Imagine it was just raw.
If I say it’s a 5.5 it’s too easy to say, “ re submit and give it a chance” and If I say it’s 8.0 it’s too easy to just say “leave it”

can you see the experiment I’m trying ?

I don't think it's a 7.0 but it kind of look's better than a 6.0 ...............So I'm torn between 6.5 and 6.0  .....The back looks pretty good except that bottom corner and the staple marks......6.5

Thank you for the time to chime in

I guess I’m gonna duck your question here a little and say this. My guess is you’re not happy with the current grade. It doesn’t look like it’s been pressed to me so “whatever” the grade is it stands a chance of being improved because I see some things that could be improved upon.. you could read the graders notes to see where you stand. There is always the chance the book could get damaged somewhere in the process or not get improved as far as the grade goes. . Furthermore not being pressed is a good selling point because someone always thinks they will crack it and score big. Anyway just some thoughts.
