My pleasure.  (worship)  Here's a comparison of the Contest #1 and Contest #2 attrition (drop-out) data.  The procedures currently in place are clearly leading to a more committed field of players.  (thumbsu

Contest # 1 2
Signed Up (Rd-0) 354 154

Rd-1 Players 203 134
Rd-0 to Rd-1 Drop-Outs 151 20
Rd-0 to Rd-1 Drop Out % 43% 13%

Rd-2 Players 152 113
Rd-1 to Rd-2 Drop-Outs 51 21
Rd-1 to Rd-2 Drop Out % 25% 16%

After a given round, some entrants will obviously rank higher than others. I wonder what the average score is for those that stick around to the next round vs. those that drop out, and what was the best score amongst those that dropped out vs. the best score amongst those that stuck around.

If I had more time, I'd take a look, but I don't, so I won't, ha ha.

So, personally I think 5 is a really excellent score for a given round, at 1 grade off per book.

Which means that if I want to have an average a score of 5 for the whole contest, I only need to average -.5 for each of the next two rounds!  This should be doable, I'm thinking.

Just when I was hoping to climb out of the scores from the first round instead

Let's just say my race to the bottom is getting faster.

Gotta go fast, faster, fastahfastahfastah!

I did notice but I'll say everyone is allowed one round of cliff jumping haha

Mine was in the first round. :pullhair:

:roflmao:

Nice sentiment.  However I seem to be on a perpetual cliff. 1920882795_giphy(1)(2).gif.5ff7bef7f76bafa3e1779adb985d13d9.gif

I can't answer that specifically, but I can tell you something related. Being in the bottom area of the rankings, I tried judging things by counting how many people were behind me. There were less after round 2 than round 1, which surprised me as I had improved with the second round. So I did a quick comparison from the top, and found I had moved up 11 spots.

So I'd say most of the folks dropping out had lower rankings, which makes some sense.

Yeah, personally I consider a score of 0-5 per round is a perfect score - I think we probably all agree that a 0.5 difference either way is probably as much a function of what you had for lunch as anything.

yep.  its basically  a CGC grade as resubmitting can result often in that much difference.
Maybe CGC should start grading in a range and put on labels like "4.5-5.0"  hm

I mean really its not as crazy as it sounds-its more accurate in many ways-

Mike pass the idea up the food chain.

So that's why I moved down so many places!

Spoiler

Actually my grades are why I moved down so many.. :roflmao:

Funny as looking back at some of my scores/grades I was of the mind that they looked more like after expelling my lunch.

Or maybe a range like this -

NM

VF

FN

VG

GD

FR/PR

Old school simple and less questionable.

Any guess (I hate calling it that) within 2 grades of what CGC calls a book is something to be proud of.

A grade off is excellent grading by CGC standards.

A bulleye is excellent grading with the same luck as a flip of a coin.

3 grades off show that you know how to grade pretty well.
