I took the liberty of setting up a Google Sheet which we can all share and collaborate on, and reformatted your information in a way that made sense to me.

I suppose first job would be finishing up the title/content info for all 326 (or whatever) volumes, then establishing how we want to collect the value information. An average of sold eBay listings? Seems like a starting point.

Ok cool! I used the Marvel Masterworks wiki page to fill in the blanks here. Took me a minute to get it all sorted, and there are some formatting things that need to be cleaned up, but I'm heading out for the day. It's a start! It's not pretty, but it'll work for now. I'll start looking up print run info asap. This will be fun!

This is fantastic! Awesome that you made it up-to-date. The MM wiki page doesn't show other printings, but that doesn't matter after #32. I searched for a little bit and couldn't find any other hardcover printings. If any others do pop up, we can add them to the sheet.

Yeah, seems like eBay final sales data might be best place to go, unless the auction houses start selling Masterworks. @mycomicshop might also be a good place to look.

I think at the end, we may want to create a new thread with both a link and a text version so others that don't know about this thread can find it.

Ok, we have a start! Just PM'd you and sent the link with editing rights, so we should be off to the races. And I agree, once it's polished up, we can make a "Marvel Masterworks Price Guide Project" thread, maybe over in Comics General.

If anyone else would like to contribute, shoot me a message and I'll add you. otherwise, anyone with that link above should be able to view the sheet. It's a work in progress, but I think it'll be pretty cool once it's done!

I worked on the sheet a bit and started entering eBay sales prices.  There seems to be quite of bit of sales on there to get sort of accurate value.

I added another pricing column for sealed vs. unsealed. One thing is I'm not sure what the best thing is when a new sale for the same book occurs - I guess changing the cell to an average formula or we can just update with the latest sale. I leaning toward average. Thoughts?

Also, adding the dates of sales would be great, but difficult.

Marvel Masterworks Hardcover Price List

I finally finished one round of entering data in the price list. Here are some notes on how I came up with the values:

  • Prices came from sold prices on eBay over the last 6 months or so.
  • I rounded to the nearest $5
  • The price shown is the highest sold value
  • Prices do not include shipping (unless it was some crazy amount $20+, then I added $10)

General Notes:

  • I didn't spend too much time on the Volumes #1-#7. Mostly because they have a huge number of printings and I need to do more research on how to tell them apart from a front/back picture.
  • The popular first volumes of the Re-Masterworks Black # on Silver (i.e. X-Men vol 1, FF vol 1, etc) have multiple printings. There is a line item for a few of the 2nd prints, but many more need research to add them in. I added cover prices to the descriptions for the ones I could find.
  • Generally, the "Limited" editions sold for higher values than the re-masterworks (but not always)
  • For the recently published Masterworks, there was a huge difference in factory shrink-wrapped vs. no wrap
  • For older books, the difference between shrink-wrapped and not shrink-wrapped leveled out, but was still around 10-25% higher
  • Prices on the Golden Age Masterworks was pretty low compared to Silver/Bronze
  • Buy-It-Now did way better than the auction format
  • The highest sale price I saw was $600 for a no shrink wrap Limited Gold Foil Daredevil Vol 2 (#29)
