LA Comic Art Con 0

I won’t be attending the comic art con scheduled for June 5th, but if anyone sees artwork with the Phantom Stranger on it, can you let me know and send a photo? To reduce the effort, I’m not particularly interested in seeing the stuff which shows up on CAT, or dealers who visit here regularly, like Bechara or the Donnelly Bros., but more localized stuff out West. Thanks.

Well, I see the Donnelly’s Action cover with the Phantom Stranger on it has appreciated nicely over the past 5 years or so. 💲

Looks like the Donnelly’s have one of my favourite Hulk covers available for sale.

they purchased the Miller Hulk 268 cover from HA for $9.6K in 2010, and it’s now priced at the paltry sum of $195K.  Good deal!  💩💩💩

Dealers are hurting for inventory. They're buying everything for cash, except for Garfield strips and Zagor.

Always so much deja vu looking at these event pics. I might be wrong, but isn’t this one of the pieces Los Bros cut up and added stats to?

The Andru piece has been out there for a while. I’ve thought about it, but it’s still high given that this is not a signature Andru character and Andru doesn’t blow me away. The other two Aparo pages haven’t been posted on line, but they were apparently priced when Aparo’s work was shooting up a few years ago. Not now. The pages with the artist last name in all CAPS - are those Bechara pages? The $28,000 price looks like something on his site but I obviously don't see the full image.

Los Bros with no prices noted of course... Does any other collectibles field put up with this? I've been to scores of art shows, antiques shows, baseball card shows, etc over decades and have never seen a dealer who does not post prices. It is worse than unprofessional, it is abject cowardice... what a stain on this hobby to have those two so heavily involved.

At least at the NJ shows, they have posted some prices in the past. Just not on-line.

At shows they have prices on pretty much everything.

One of Los Bros prices most of his art at cons. The other one, with no marked prices, must have to ask the brother if it's for sale, and then get the price? (In-between re-inking faded pages and/or creating fake title stats for "alternate covers.")

Oh, and Saul Zimmerman was also at the LA Art Con...with no prices listed on anything.
