Here is my copy of Amazing Spider-Man #40.

Here are the issues as I see them:

There are a few spine tics along the spine, but several of them could be pressed out. There is some fraying at the upper left-hand corner of the front cover. There are two creases at the bottom right-hand corner of the front cover, but I believe that they are non-color-breaking. There is also a small crease in the upper right-hand corner of the front cover, and it breaks color. There is a crease through the coupon on the bottom right-hard corner of the back cover which breaks color. There are two stains at the bottom of the back cover, in the bottom left-hand corner and in the middle. These stains do not penetrate to any interior pages. There are a few creases along both the left-hand and right-hand sides of the cover, but they seem to be non-color-breaking. There may a slight staple tear at the top staple of the back cover. There is distribution ink along the top of the book, but it doesn’t penetrate all the pages. The cover is firmly attached at both staples.

I think that this is a nice copy, but I think that this book could be improved by a cleaning/pressing. What are your thoughts? Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Top edge wear with color breaking creases, color breaking creases at the top right corner, minor spine stress with a few color breaking spine ticks, slight spine roll and fanned pages, minor color rub on front cover, minor foxing/staining on rear cover.

IMO...

An above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with no significant creasing or other serious defects. Some accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases. Inks show a significant reduction in reflectivity. Blunted corners are more common, as is minor staining, soiling, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor spine roll is allowed. There can also be a 1/4" spine split or severe color break. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and a few slight stress lines may be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown and fairly supple with no signs of brittleness. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present. Centerfold may be loose.

6.5...nice book that presents better than the grade due to the stains on the back cover...

6.5. easily much higher, but they'll hammer you for the stains, albeit small. very nice book for the grade
