Grade is in: Adventure into Fear 24—Mark Jewelers

I actually have a pretty good idea where this one lands, but since some people were interested in my AiF20 Mark Jewelers, I wanted to share and inquire anyway. There are a couple of small stress marks on the spine that don't break color. I think these would press out. The corners are blunted, but other than that, it's solid. Both this one and issue 20 come from one of my "dumb luck" acquisitions. I bought the entire Morbius AiF run (20-31) >20 years ago. I don't remember ever hearing about MJ inserts back then, and surely not them being desirable. I didn't pay much for these b/c people weren't that interested in Morbius. Anyway, lucky for me, 5 of those issues are MJs including the two most important issues in that run, which includes this one with the first meeting of Morbius and Blade. I just discovered these were MJs a few weeks ago when I got them out for the first time in a really, really long time.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks. You think those corner issues are that bad? I didn't have it quite that low, but I'm not too familiar with how some of these specific defects impact the grade.

Keep in mind I'm generally pretty conservative in my grading.

I see some creasing and finger bends on both covers. Corner are a little soft. Color-breaking creasing on the front cover which may or may not be production-related (looking at other copies on line many display a similar defect).

A C&P should definitely get this book to an 8.0/8.5.

Cool, cool, cool. I was definitely pricing in a C&P as I think most of those are going to respond well to it. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something as I alluded to in the AiF20, my current paranoia about stains.

Hope this doesn't get me a purple label, but I took the book out rubbed my fingers over the spot and whatever that was just flaked off. I think it's best not to speculate too much on what it was lol
