When did Frank Miller first draw Wolverine in a comic book?

In a comic book? Wolverine #1. For a comic book? X-Men Annual #3 (cover).

He also did the cover for What If? #27 before the Wolverine mini. I believe we've now covered all the times Miller drew Wolverine for comics before the release of Daredevil #181.

"Heritage Auctions’ Weldon Adams, an Overstreet Advisor and comics historian"

I thought historians did research. (shrug)

“Getting this verified as the first ever Wolverine drawing by Frank Miller is a huge thing for me. I didn’t know if I could get it done or not. He might not remember it enough to feel comfortable acquiescing to my request,” Adams said. “There were just a hundred ways this could have not happened.”

Yeah, like it being properly verified as just another sketch and not the first time Miller ever drew Wolverine.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

1st Frank Miller drawing of Wolverine in a comic book; X-Men Annual #3 (1979). I'm surprised how many people do not know this. I'm wiling to cut Weldone some slack since it was 1982.
