If you got a witnessed signature through CGC, the signature wouldn't effect the grade and you would get a yellow signature series label. If you had an unwitnessed signature... For example, you bought a book that had Stan Lee written across the front of a comic, that would negatively impact the grade. CGC wouldn't authentic an unwitnessed signature and the writing on the cover would bring the grade down or possibly get you a green "qualified" label.
