So... what is it worth?

These predictions are stupid. If you are going to claim that a piece would be worth 5 million, I'd like you to tell me who is going to ante up for that.

Normally, you can just take his predictions and take off one zero ($5,000,000 becomes $500,000).

I'm new here but thought I'd take a stab at these cover estimates for fun...

Action 1 800,000 - 1 Mil

Det 27 800,000- 1 Mil

AF 15 600,000-800,000 Spidey is almost as popular now as DC's big two.

X-Men 1 500k

FF 1 500k

FF 5 300k

ASM 50 200k

Anything can happen with the right bidders in the room but I think these prices are more likely if the pieces were auctioned off now.

In time anything can happen. Every year it seems more people join our little hobby and scamble for quality OA. I think prices will be going up for a while.

Based on this though Glenn you'd have to put ASM # 1 at 500K (lower end of AF 15).

and X-Men # 1 will never be as important as ASM # 1 ?????????...

everybody thinks Im Krazy but you gotta stretch out some of these numbers based

on the fact that once it is bought,.,....

IT WILL NEVER AGAIN MOST LIKELY SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY.

Yeah, right... just like JP and Cage's books.

I personally could care less as I will be the new owner of alotta great stuff at bargain prices. I win, either way.

KK

Oh yeah? Then why did you let those GA Action covers on Heritage get away at the "bargain prices" they sold for when you said you were going to bid much higher? confused-smiley-013.gif

Glen; welcome! I think your estimates are right on, but I do think the xmen 1 is a tad high. I would put it more in the 300k. What do you think of Avengers #4 since I know you are a Cap Compatriot?? I think that would do about 300k as well. DF

Since the discussion of the worth of certain "impossible dream" covers has come up in a thread at least partially taken over by KK vs. the forum battles, I thought I'd bring the question up in its own thread. Obviously, this too will degenerate in a KK vs. the forum battle as well, but I figured I might be able to squeeze a few responses out of people before it does so (especially from the people most violently opposed to KK's estimations.)

So, here goes. Imagine for a second that it does exist and was put up for sale through Heritage, what would the published cover to Amazing Fantasy 15 be worth?

How about a few other covers (while I'm here)

Detective 27

Action 1

Fantastic Four 1

Fantastic Four 5

Amazing Spider-Man 50

X-Men 1

The cover to AMAZING SPIDER-MAN # 50 exists, and resides in a collection.

Actually, I'd value the ASM 1 very close to AF 15. I'd put it at 600-750k.

Thanks Dan. Man I love that Avengers 4 cover. I'd like to own that and the ASM 1. Finders fee paid smile.gif

I think 300k is about right for Avengers 4. Maybe a tad higher.

X-Men 1 -----------------------> $3 Million plus

27_laughing.gif

You could buy all the interior pages to X-Men #1 for a fraction of that price.

Repeat after me Deli "It is the covers that always will be the most coveted"

Get it? headbang.gif
