what would be the grade cap with this kind of staple recess/tear?

Like the others said, need more pictures and a description of what's going on.

Is the cover detached also? There's tears around this recess but is there also paper loss? A lot of factors including the book's entire condition will go into determining it's grade.

Also, a simple recessed staple could still land a book in the NM range.
