xGreatNWx
Bug Chew? My Superboy/LSH 239 is missing the upper right corner through 98% of pages from 1.75 mm progressing up to 3 mm. CGC Grading book states it could drop a book to an 8.5 but doesn’t offer measured examples. Any ideas if CGC would grade harshly for this? Thanks! I’m looking for a grade of 9.2/9.4 for this book, but won’t submit if the page damage is an issue. Thanks for your help!
Funnybooks
pics of the rest of the book would help...wraps, spine and corners xGreatNWx
xGreatNWx
This book needs a press. There is a 2mm color breaking spine tick above the bottom staple just above the bar code. Top staple shows light stress tears. Top right corner and back cover corner are bent, but not dogged ear. Two angled creases from “approved by . ..” stamp to outer cover. Otherwise the cover is glossy and white (needs cleaning). Back cover has two non color breaking spine ticks. The online comic shop sold this as “NM”. I think with a press, it might be a reach for a 9.
OtherEric
I think the corner is more likely production than actual bug chew... I've seen it on lots of books of the era... but not sure how it would get graded because of it. silverseeker and xGreatNWx
Funnybooks
I would be surprised if this copy graded higher than 9.0. If that is indeed bug chew and it seems to be, It would take it out of any nm range and into vf/vf+ range. KCOComics

Axe Elf
I recently had an example of what appears to be the very same thing--the pages inside the upper right corner all having up to 1/4" damage on them. I self-graded it as a 6.5. Those damaged corners aren't the only issue with the book, but I believe them to be the most serious. Maybe I should post it in the Buddy Can You Spare a Grade forum and see what people think. As for the OP question, I agree with the other responses; you would be very lucky indeed to get that book to grade out at 9.0; certainly not 9.2 or 9.4.
