scburdet
Gambit's other first appearance. Did well with my X-Men 266 with last year's CC signing, so thinking about the pair. I didn't realize until examining this book that Marvel kept the square binding for annuals but got rid of the staples at some point. I presume this style uses more adhesive to hold things together. You can feel the impression around the spine where I presume the binding machine compressed the book together, but the binding is solid.
grendelbo
9.2 I picked up this book at publication because I was into anything and everything Art Adams. Didn't even really like X-Men. Glad I did. Especially since my X-Men 266 disappeared somehow in the past 25 years. So too did my New Mutants 98. Tossed with 90s drek I imagine. Thanks for posting. scburdet

Little did I know a few decades later people would pay a premium for the ones with the UPC symbol. This one I got on the secondary market tho. Nschenks
I could see 9.4 for this after C&P (not sure if there is danger in C&P with these glued books but if not would imagine might present a little better). A little blunting on some of the corners, but I don't see much else. I imagine CGC will have some tolerance for spine corners at this grade. Nice looking book! scburdet

They use a spacer of some sort to protect the binding, which I believe limits the degree to which something get pressed. I've not seen the process, just had it described to me.
