For 70s Bronze Age I would’ve chosen House of Secrets / House of Mystery over Tomb of Dracula as horror titles because they had many very bizarre and disturbing stories, whereas, looking back, Tomb of Dracula, though very well-written and nicely illustrated and more consistent, wasn’t really particularly scary.  

As well as the DC titles, another less consistent but darker alternative to Tomb of Dracula, with great art and stories at times, would be Warren’s Creepy and Eerie magazines.

This was harder than I expected.

I really wanted to go with Sandman too as it's one of the series I have complete. But missing the first 12 issues or so would have bugged me as it started in the 80s. I felt it was better to have the start of series than come in a quarter of the way thru so I went with Spawn for another Gaiman connection.
