Our recent featured collectible, Snatch Comics #1 CGC 7.0 1st printing with off-white to white pages. 

Here is an opportunity to own a very rare and important comic book from the underground comix genre. Snatch #1 (Apex Novelties, 1968) was written and penciled by Robert Crumb and Clay Wilson! I wouldn't say that this book is on a lot of collector's want list, but when you think about its rarity and influence on the indie comics creators who came after, one should wonder why it isn't! The print run is debated, but I have read numbers anywhere between 250 (publisher Donahue's estimate) and 800 (historian Jay Kennedy's) for first printing. And given the antiquated printing press they used and DIY assembling, you can be sure a small fraction have survived.⁠

After receiving criticism and outrage from all sides for "deviant" content in their Zap title, Robert Crumb and Gilbert Shelton basically decided to double down with Snatch #1. Not letting the comic book authority code hold them down and taking full advantage of the counterculture movement at the time (though Crumb didn't care much for the hippies), it almost seemed like the book was a tip of the hat if you will, to their embattled predecessors at E.C. Comics.⁠

The copy available at Bedo's is a first printing at a CGC 7.0. There are currently only 20 non-restored on the CGC census.
