PGM GL #47 w/ rusty staples 0

Thank you.  I'm wondering how much rusty staples affect the grade?

CGC guide gives a wide range. 6.0-9.6 depending on severity & whether there's staining on the paper. This doesn't seem like the worst example, but still moderate. I'd guess 7.5±0.5

I’d say 6.5 for the rust affecting the interior and the back cover stains on an otherwise nice looking book

Would be 8.0 but for the stains and staples themselves. I'd bust this down to 7.0 I'm afraid. It's a ticking time bomb for more migration of rust.

Thank you.  Yes, A ticking time bomb for sure.

Does it help stop migration if I can scrape the rust off the staples?  It looks like there's puffy pieces of rust that can be scraped off the staples.
