I love this site and the resource it provides for the pedigree collections. I was wondering if there is any similar resources for recognized collections that aren't pedigreed. I see them pop up regularly and they are interesting. I was wondering if there is anybody that keeps track of these?

Here is a link to the pedigrees we recognize.

I mean collections like the non pedigree collections that are named by dealers. Notable collections that don't meet the requirements to be considered pedigrees.

I see a lot of those types of collections.  I think it's just the dealer trying to sell more books by designating it a name and marketing it as a legit find.

I think this is representative of what you're looking for:  :foryou:

These beauties were part of a very small collection assembled by a fellow who worked at Eastern Color's Medina, Ohio printing facility.  The gentleman took them straight off the assembly line.  The CGC'd specimens were submitted by me.

And here's one from a collection acquired by Dale Roberts.  I believe he dubbed it The Zodiac Collection.  As usual, purchased raw and later subbed by me:

And these came from a large original owner collection out of Petaluma, CA which Brian Peets and I have dubbed The Petaluma Collection.  Most were from the extremely tough late pre-code to early post-code period.  The entire collection was stored in a hen-house (Petaluma was once known as "The Egg Capital Of The World"), so many of the books have moisture stains and light rodent chews.  Once again, all purchased raw and later subbed by me.  Many were once the highest graded copies.  Here are just a few:

And if you haven't already guessed, I'm a sucker for fresh-looking specimens with bright cover inks and nice pages.

Finally, here's a link to the A-1 Comics web page that describes the 40,000+ book Winters Collection (scroll down for a narrated video tour).  Most of the Bronze Age and later specimens have been coming back from CGC as white paged 9.4s, 9.6s, and 9.8s.  Very pretty stuff.  (thumbsu

I have one of those Zodiac books... @zzutak

But perhaps he means "collections" like "from the collection of Jon Berk"? the ones with designations on the labels. Sorry, I only have some bank pictures.
