not comic book related, but art book related. someone has a book for sale at 400$. Is it bad form to send them a DM offering 300$? While I've negotiated on eBay, never have done so on Abebooks

I don't see the harm. Worst case, they say no.

Yeah, I don't think your offer is an insulting or unrealistic price! Worse that happens is they say no. So many places thrive on haggling in a benign way
