Reasonable Expectations 1 1

I currently have the following Atlas Black Knight issues: #1 (CGC 4.5), #2 (CGC 5.5), #3 (CGC 4.0), #4 (CGC 6.0), and #5 (CGC 5.5).

I would like to take advantage of the somewhat lower prices and try to improve one of my three current books: Amazing Spider-Man #1 (CGC 3.0 - GPA $7.5K - 10/2023), Fantastic Four #1 (CGC 2.5 - GPA $10.2K - 07/2023), or X-Men #1 (CGC 3.0 - GPA $7.5K - 9/2023). 

I would like to aim for the following grades: ASM #1 CGC 5.0 - GPA $15.3K - 08/2023, FF #1 CGC 4.0 - GPA $18.9K - 04/2023, XM #1 - CGC 6.0 - GPA $15K - 08/2023.

This leads me to several questions. If I was to sell all five issues of the Atlas Black Knight series, what would be a reasonable asking price? Would I be better off selling them as a set or as individual issues? Should I try to sell them here or on IG, or should I try to sell them at an auction (such as Heritage, Ebay, ComicConnect, or ComicLink)? 

Just for informational purposes, a BK #1 CGC 3.5 sold for $2,898 in 08/2023, a BK #2 CGC 2.5 sold for $330 in 08/2023, a BK #3 CGC 2.5 sold for $227 in 10/2023, a BK #5 CGC 7.0 sold for $1,000 in 03/2023, and a BK #6 CGC sold for $350 in 05/2023. There have been no sales of BK #4 CGC in 2023. All of the previous data came from GPA.

I would really appreciate your input. By the way, I don't know if this is the appropriate place for this post, but I couldn't think of a better spot. If there is a better place for this post, please let me know and I will remove the post from this forum and place it in a more appropriate forum.

Why not email mycomicshop and ask for an offer? That will give you an idea what to ask.

I did this recently with mycomicshop and got a very fair and reasonable offer for a big key. I fielded a few other offers and after fees and headaches I decided MCS was the way to go. 

I applied the trade directly into a bigger GA book and I was really happy with how it played out. 

So if you spot a book you want to upgrade into on their site, it's worth reaching out.

Unfortunately, they don't have any books on their site that I want. The best copy of ASM #1 is a CGC 3.5 for $13,995 and the best copy of FF #1 is a CBCS 4.0 for $36,750 (Jack Kirby verified signature). They have multiple copies of X-Men #1 (CGC 7.0 Stan Lee signature - $32,000, CGC 6.5 - $25,995, and CGC 4.5 - $13,000). To me, the ASM #1 is not enough of an upgrade (especially for the price), the FF #1 is WAY out of my price range, the XM #1 CGC 7.0 and CGC 6.5 are out of my price range, and the XM #1 CGC 4.5 is not enough of any upgrade (especially for the price).

I just scanned through and saw the same thing. The Xmen 4.5 was interesting to me, because it had the dark green, but it had that piece missing I wasn't crazy about. 

You could still contact them for an offer on the Black Knights.

Those are raw prices. On CGC books, they'll make an offer.

I'd consign them, if I wasn't in a rush.

As you know, I brought up the topic of what I could possibly get for my set of Atlas Black Knight series #1 - #5. I know this doesn't belong in this forum, but I like to live life dangerously.

I just completed a big trade on IG. I traded Atlas Black Knight #1 - #5 plus a small amount of cash to receive Detective Comics #140 CGC 3.0.
