Hello everyone and thanks for any help given. I’ve been on the fence about sending this comic to CGC to press and grade. My concern being it’s going to come back below mid grade. What is the comic fold considered? Ive seen it called a subscription crease but this fold was cover to cover and not back to back. The fold goes all the way through the comic and breaks colour on Colossus are arm band. The fingerprints are also a major problem. My guess has always been that it will grade around a 6.0 but l’d be so happy with 8.0. Would a cgc press fix the fold for the entire comic? What grade with the pics provided do you think it would come back as. Thank you so much for any responses and have a excellent day.

4.5, maybe 5.0 pressed. Pressing isn't magic. I doubt the subscription crease can be removed completely.

The subscription crease breaks color, that cannot be corrected, color breaking crease at the lower right corner, off center staples, minor spine stress with multiple color breaking spine ticks/stress lines, denting/creasing/crunching along spine and lower edge of the rear cover.

IMO, this book would be in the FN 6.0 range without the subscription crease, with the crease that breaks color I agree with the above assessment...

VG+ 4.5 to VG/FN 5.0

5.0 VERY GOOD/FINE (VG/FN):  Back to Top
An above-average but well used comic book. An accumulation of bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor to moderate cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases and/or dimples. Inks have moderate to low reflectivity. Blunted corners are increasingly common, as is minor to moderate staining, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor to moderate spine roll is allowed. A spine split of up to 1/2" may be present. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and minor stress lines may also be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown with no signs of brittleness. Centerfold may be loose. Minor interior tears may also be present.

4.5 VERY GOOD+ (VG):  Back to Top
Fits the criteria for Very Good but with an additional virtue or small accumulation of virtues that improves the book's appearance by a perceptible amount.

4.0 VERY GOOD (VG):  Back to Top
The average used comic book. Cover shows moderate to significant wear, and may be loose but not completely detached. Cover reflectivity is low. Can have moderate creases or dimples. Corners may be blunted. Store stamps, name stamps, arrival dates, initials, etc. have no effect on this grade. Some discoloration, fading, foxing, and even minor soiling is allowed. As much as a 1/4" triangle can be missing out of the corner or edge; a missing 1/8" square is also acceptable. Only minor unobtrusive tape and other amateur repair allowed on otherwise high grade copies. Moderate spine roll may be present and/or a 1" spine split. Staples may be discolored. Minor to moderate staple tears and stress lines may be present, as well as some rust migration. Paper is brown but not brittle. Minor to moderate interior tears may be present. Centerfold may be loose or detached at one staple.

GD 2.0 - Book-length creases and dimples may be present.

GD/VG 3.0 - Can have a book-length crease and/or dimples.

VG 4.0 - Can have moderate creases or dimples.

VG/FN 5.0 - with minor to moderate creases and/or dimples.

FN 6.0 - Minor cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases

FMV, according to Ebay sold auctions for books in lower to mid grade is in the $40.00 - $60.00 range, a CGC VG/FN 5.0 sold for $44.67, what is the cost of a clean and press along with grading, personally, I would place the book in a Mylite with an Acid Free Board and enjoy it, for me, the subscription crease shows some of the history of the book. Having the book graded and slabbed does not offer any more protection than a Mylite/Board, slabs are not airtight, not UV protected and have to be stored in the same conditions as non slabbed books. If you want to display the book, there are UV protected frames just for comics at around $15.00 each, if you prefer a professional grade and a slab for display purposes for your own enjoyment, go for it.
