It was the 90s and a lot of stuff in comics didn’t make much sense or hold up to even vague critical thought.

The rocky plates on his face had come off, and it looked more fleshy underneath. That’s all.

That whole fiasco was almost enough to make me stop reading the title. Just wrong and stupid and stupidly wrong.
